About this event
Next 21st February 2023, the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) will organise the workshop ‘Catalonia AI4EO Day’ on Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to Earth Observation (EO) and Remote Sensing (RS). The aim of the meeting is to gather all the actors in the domain to develop activities in the field of AI applied to these areas.
The workshop is open to anyone willing to attend and be part of this initiative. The ‘Catalonia AI4EO Day’ is an initiative boosted by the Generalitat de Catalunya in the framework of the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia with the collaboration of the Artificial Intelligence Research Alliance of Catalonia (AIRA) and the Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA-NewSpace).
During the event, all the details of the initiative will be presented and the attendants will enjoy a series of talks from experts alongside speakers from different companies and research groups or institutions from Catalonia, and a roundtable focusing on the “Future of AI4EO in Catalonia”. People will also enjoy networking time where they will be able to interact with each other, and exchange ideas and contact information.
Some key points will be discussed, such as:
- Connecting academia and industry
- How to approach funding
- Emphasising the need to do research on AI topics related to EO.

El proper 21 de febrer de 2023, l’Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) organitzarà la Jornada AI4EO Catalonia (per les sigles en anglès), sobre Intel·ligència Artificial (IA) aplicada a l'Observació de la Terra (OT) i la Teledetecció (TELED). La trobada té per objectiu reunir tots els actors que desenvolupen activitats en el camp de la IA aplicada a aquestes àrees.
La jornada està oberta a qualsevol persona que desitgi assistir i formar part d'aquesta iniciativa, impulsada per la Generalitat de Catalunya en el marc de l'Estratègia NewSpace de Catalunya, i amb la col·laboració de l’Aliança de Recerca en Intel·ligència Artificial de Catalunya (AIRA, Artificial Intelligence Research Alliance of Catalonia) i la Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA-NewSpace) .
Durant la jornada es compartiran més detalls sobre aquesta iniciativa i els assistents gaudiran d'una sèrie de xerrades d'experts, juntament amb ponents de diferents empreses, grups d'investigació i institucions de Catalunya, i una taula rodona centrada en el «Futur de l'AI4EO a Catalunya». També es duran a terme activitats de networking on els presents podran interactuar entre ells i intercanviar idees i informació de contacte.
Punts clau que es debatran al llarg del dia seran:
- Vinculació entre l´acadèmia i la indústria
- La importància del finançament
- La necessitat d'investigar en temes d'IA relacionats amb l'OT
