CBCT® Cognitively-Based Compassion Training

8-Week Foundational Course

The course and its contents:

CBCT® is an 8-week cognitive meditation course in compassion, combining Buddhist mind training and contemplacion techniques to neuroscience and psychology. With CBCT® you will be introduced to a method that aims to break down barriers , help to reconnect with yourself and others, and apprehend tools building resilience. You will be introduced to a variety of practical meditation methods and contemplation exercises to face challenges and life's entanglement with more balance.

Participation in a foundational CBCT course will enable you to

- develop resilience, learn to prevent stress, depression and anxiety

- will build and strengthen an empathic mindset and a joyful, caring heart to enjoy what you have and redimension challenges and difficulties you encounter

- will let you explore how the body can be a tool to understand and regulate emotions and cognitive frameworks without compartmentalising them

The concept of "compassion" sometimes recalls connotations of pity or sorrow. Compassion in the context of mind training in the Indo-Tibetan traditions and as proven by Neuropsychological research, refers to psychological training that helps us develop the social skills of kindness and affection for our own sake and the benefit of others. Compassion points to the empathic ability to understand the suffering of others and to the concrete steps we can take to alleviate it. It also refers to the ability to love and accept ourselves as we are, learn to cope with afflictive (negative) emotions, and learn to deal with destructive self-criticism.

*CBCT® (Cognitively Based Compassion Training) is a meditation protocol using mindfulness techniques and compassionate states of mind training developed by Dr. Lobsang Tenzin Negi, director of the Centre for Contemplative Science and Compassion-based Ethics at Emory University in Atlanta, USA, a centre under the patronage of the Dalai Lama. Recent scientific studies have proven how CBCT® reduces emotional stress and promotes health and social competence.
