MEET THE PROFESSOR:

Paolo Giancane, CFA, is a veteran investment banker and serial angel investor in disruptive sectors. He is a former external M&A advisor for a large Chinese conglomerate/asset manager in respect to overseas investments having spent more than 7 years between Beijing and Hong Kong.

Paolo has been exposed to the Chinese market since 2005 and has participated in several equity financings on behalf of Chinese clients and advised European clients in prospective investments in China as well as divestitures of European assets to Chinese buyers.

Before that, he worked at Lehman Brothers in New York and London from 1997 through 2002 in the corporate finance and leveraged finance teams. He was a Director at UniCredit Investment Banking in Milan, Beijing and Hong Kong from 2002 through 2009.

Paolo holds a MSc in Finance from London Business School and a BA Degree from Bocconi University in Milan.

He teaches finance programs at IE Master in Management, financial planning courses at IE MBArch and Global Master in Real Estate Development, IE’s executive programs for some of the world’s largest financial institutions such as China’s ICBC and China Life, and in-house training programs for IE at PIF and STC in Saudi Arabia.

Paolo is an active investor in a series of early-stage innovative companies including software upcomer Vesenda (eLegere.com) where he also sits on the board. Vesenda developed and markets proprietary software for the digitalization of corporate processes enabling successful adoption of AI. The company’s clients include medium and large-size businesses among which banks and insurance companies.

Paolo Giancane holds the CFA designation from the CFA Institute.
