This unique, life-changing 4-day women’s retreat begins with a day and night in the Marrakech Medina followed by 3 days in the High Atlas Mountains, with personalized workshops in Morocco’s Premiere Mountain Retreat.

The retreat begins Thursday 23 March 2023 at 14.00 and ends Sunday 26 March 2023 at 12.00. We have many exciting surprises for you, but here’s what we can share with you in advance.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Thursday 23rd March 2023

As this will be arrival day for many, we anticipate a relaxed first day, enjoying the sights and sounds of the Medina. Perhaps in the morning you will explore the vibrant town square, Jemma el-Fna, with its snake charmers and colorful street vendors. Or get lost in the Souk Semmarine, Marrakech’s labyrinth market where you can haggle over vibrant rugs, handcrafted leather goods, silverware and crockery of all shapes and sizes.

We’ll all gather together at 14:00 for introductions and to get to know each other. We’ll dine together before retiring to a lovely Riad located in the heart of this fascinating city.

Day 2: Friday 24th March 2023

After a traditional Moroccan breakfast at the Riad, we will be on our way to the Atlas Mountains. Lunch will await us on the roof of the Kasbah Du Toubkal, dramatically perched on an outcrop 1,800 metres above sea level. We will be surrounded by mountains above us and down below the primitive adobe homes of subsistence farmers with their fields of walnuts, cherries and apples.

We will stay in a separate village guesthouse a pleasant 15 minute walk down hill from this famous, ancient Kasbah. Our retreat workshops will be held in the Kasbah itself. The Kasbah is an award winning mountain resort. It had been the summer home of Caid Souktani, a local chief during the time Morocco was a French protectorate. When Morocco gained its independence in 1956, the Caid left and the Kasbah fell into ruin and now fully restored.

Following lunch, we will visit Education For All (EFA), the recipient of our donations. EFA runs the girls’ boarding houses that allow girls from rural families in the High Atlas Mountains to continue their education. You will meet these girls, share stories, and hear of the difficulties girls experience in pursuit of education in Morocco.

There is the possibility, yet to be confirmed, for the chiropractors amongst us to adjust the girls and the village locals. After this heartwarming and eye-opening experience, we will transfer back to Kasbah for dinner.

Aspire Mama Africa is partnered with EFA Morocco and helps raise funds for these girls’ education. Last year AMA sponsored the education of an entire boarding house for a year. In fact, the proceeds from this retreat will be sponsoring the education of the vary girls you will meet on this day.

Day 3: Saturday 25th March 2023

After breakfast, we will dive straight into the workshops specially planned for this retreat. These exercises will connect with our inner selves, grow, transform, and leave behind the barriers blocking us from our true selves. After the first workshops of the day, we will take a gentle hike in the valley surrounding the Kasbah where we will enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back for more workshops. Later into the evening we will be share each other’s company over a beautiful dinner.

Day 4: Sunday 26th March 2023

After enjoying our last breakfast together, we will continue with more workshops, wrap up this unique weekend with a special goodbye from Aspire Mama Africa, then transport to the airport (for those staying longer, message us beforehand to organize the transport).

The henna ceremony is a unique celebration of our femininity. In Morocco, henna tattoos are considered a sign of fertility, beauty and optimism. When henna is worn on the hands and feet it is said to protect and bring the wearer baraka, or blessings, while Berber women believe it is a sign of good luck. The henna tattoos are not permanent, henna is an all-natural plant dye that fades with time.

ADDITIONAL FLEXIBLE Cancellation Policy – COVID pandemic:

Currently, there are no restrictions on entry to Morocco, and we are not anticipating any COVID restrictions in the future. However, we do offer the following, just in case.

(1) Up to 90 days before departure for reasons related to COVID pandemic, you may postpone your stay with no penalty, and receive a credit note valid for 12 months.

(2) If Morocco is closed or your Country Of Departure is closed on or up to 21 days before your departure date due to COVID you may have a credit note valid for 12 months or a full refund.

We reserve the rights to amend the itinerary as required.
