Guided tour of the Alcázar of Córdoba - Italian
Overview
Discover the monument that encapsulates practically the entire history of Cordoba in a single building. Tickets are included in this tour of what was once the Residence of Kings and previously an ancient fortification that formed part of the Umayyad Caliphate's Alcázar complex when Cordoba was the capital of Al-Andalus. Since the arrival of the Romans, this part of the city was occupied as a port area, passing into the hands of Visigoths, Muslims and Christians. Finish the visit by strolling through its wonderful gardens, which cover an area of around 50,000 square metres.
The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos is an ancient fortress built in 1328 by Alfonso XI, King of Castile and great-grandson of Alfonso X “El Sabio”, whose image can be found at the main entrance to the building. This rectangular castle is protected by four watchtowers. From inside the building, you can see its wonderful and varied courtyards and gardens, where you can stroll while relaxing to the sound of water from its fountains and ponds.
The meeting point is on Avenida del Alcazar, opposite the Torre de la Paloma tower in the Alcazar. We recommend arriving at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the start of the tour. Look for the green umbrella!
The tour will be conducted in ITALIAN
*IMPORTANT NOTICE!* The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos will be closed for restoration work with no scheduled reopening date. Its gardens will be accessible and the visit will be complemented by the Baños Califales, another archaeological gem of the city of Córdoba.
