i4KIDS - i4KIDS-4RARE Training Capsule
Overview
For many patients with rare diseases, the lack of a diagnosis remains one of their biggest challenges. Despite advances in genomic technologies, around 50% still remain undiagnosed, often waiting more than five years for answers. This highlights the urgent need for innovative approaches to accelerate the diagnostic process.
In this context, Sant Joan de Déu Hospital Barcelona Children's Hospital drives UNICAS, a strategic initiative designed to improve care for patients with rare diseases. One of its key actions is the 1st Ibero-American Hackathon for Undiagnosed Rare Disease Patients, an intensive and interdisciplinary model that brings experts together to tackle complex cases and move closer to life-changing diagnoses.
