Improv Skill Builders w/ TBC Spain - A series of 4 elective classes
Overview
Overview
Most TBC Improv courses are 8-weeks, this one is different!
For those who want to expand their skills in a certain area, you can dip in where you feel necessary. Each class is a standalone theme so you can take 1, 2, 3, or 4 - and of course, we think they're all equally important!Together in this series we will explore the skills of improv at a deeper level. We'll look at specific applications and play with differing concepts, to strengthen your improv tool belt.
This is a supportive and fun environment where you can relax into silliness! Each class will include games and exercises to get us feeling loose and inspire fun, and then dive us into the topic of the day. You will be on your feet, active, trying and playing - laughs are guaranteed!
Class Topics:
About the Genres: Building Worlds Through Style workshop
Step into new worlds and play with the rules that define them. This workshop explores how genre shapes tone, relationships, and storytelling—from film noir to rom-com, fantasy to realism. Learn to recognise and heighten stylistic conventions, switch effortlessly between genres, and let style spark fresh discoveries. Whether you love grounded scenes or big theatrical worlds, you’ll expand your range and have a blast doing it. We'll look at key tropes and ideas then exlpore a few of the crowd favourite genres!
About the Environment as Scene Partner workshop
Your setting isn’t just background—it’s a character waiting to be discovered. In this workshop, you’ll learn to bring invisible worlds to life through physicality, object work, and shared imagination. Explore how environment can shape mood, emotion, and relationship dynamics, and how treating space as your scene partner can unlock depth, clarity, and playfulness in every moment.
About the Flow & Tempo workshop
Keep your scenes alive, balanced, and dynamic. This workshop dives into the rhythm of improv—when to slow down, when to build energy, and how to sense the natural flow of a scene. Through energising exercises and mindful play, you’ll explore pace, timing, and responsiveness. Find the sweet spot between calm confidence and lively momentum, and discover how great scenes breathe.
About the Game of the Scene – an Overview & Intro workshop
Find what’s fun and play it hard. This workshop introduces the concept of “game of the scene”—spotting the unusual thing, heightening it, and building comedic clarity together. You’ll explore patterns, point of view, and playful escalation without getting stuck in your head. Whether you’ve heard the term before or are totally new to it, you’ll leave with practical tools to make your scenes clearer, funnier, and more collaborative.
