Event Details

The gender gap is much wider in law firms than in other industries. The percentage of women equity partners in law firms are considerably lower than men with studies showing that women are less likely to reach the first level of partnership.

While law firms are working on policies and programs to improve gender diversity, more can still be done to bring these stated commitments into real and measurable outcomes.

As part of the InspiraLAw initiative, Iberian Lawyer is hosting a series of workshops, bringing together both female and male lawyers from associates to managing partners to discuss and debate the challenges the sector is facing and the changes being made on gender diversity.

The methodology will be interactive and participatory with simultaneous debates followed by a panel discussion.

The aim is to share ideas, inspire and facilitate change. The workshop will take place in Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona. The outcome of the sessions will be covered by Iberian Lawyer magazine.

The key themes to discuss include:

  1. Attracting Talent: What is the legal sector doing or not doing to attract and retain female talent? Does law firm management integrate the needs of both genders when making executive decisions?
  2. Leading Change: What is the change that female lawyers most want to bring to the sector? What do women lawyers need from their firms and/or organizations in order to succeed?
  3. Driving forces: What factors do female lawyers take into account when making their career choices in the legal sector (ie. In house or law firm)? What is holding women back from choosing a career in the legal profession?
  4. Learning from the corporate world: Are companies offering more professinal advancement opportunities for women lawyers? What can we learn from company´s initiatives and policies? Have they been successful?

Please note that this workshop is by invitation only and with limited spaces available. We will follow the first come first served policy.
