Irina Drozd: Te sueño

Join us for the opening of Irina Drozd: Te sueño on December 4 at 18:00, at Portal Nou, 35 (bajos), Barcelona. The exhibition runs from December 4 to 24, 2025.

They say strange, almost unbelievable things happen on Christmas Eve: a scratching in the corner, a door slamming shut, ornaments jingling as if moved by an invisible hand. These moments open a parallel childhood world — where monsters might dwell under the bed, and the creaking floorboards hint at unseen visitors.

Irina Drozd’s works — paintings and exquisitely crafted ceramic creatures — act like a collector’s trove of wonders, awakening vivid, forgotten sensations as if they had never faded. Half-forgotten creatures, whispers, and quiet stories come to life in the exhibition space.

In her youth, Drozd was deeply influenced by Spanish cinema: the atmospheric worlds of Alejandro Amenábar, the poetic vision of Víctor Erice, and the fantastic grotesque of Álex de la Iglesia. Their imprint can be seen in the exhibition’s mood — its mystery, reflective play, and delicate balance between light and unease.

Te sueño invites visitors to step back into a world where emotions are sharper, imagination is keener, and hidden beings reveal themselves to those who look closely.
