We are pleased to announce the first edition of SyngCo – Conference on Syngnathid Conservation, a global meeting dedicated to advancing conservation strategies for seahorses, pipefishes, and their relatives.

The conservation status of syngnathids, both in Europe and worldwide, remains of great concern. As climate change continues to reshape marine ecosystems, developing effective management tools and science-based strategies for their protection has become an urgent priority.

This conference offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Define key aspects of the global roadmap for syngnathid conservation.
  • Discuss methods for population assessment and monitoring.
  • Identify essential data to support best practices for human–syngnathid interactions.
  • Build the foundation for progressive conservation policies and management frameworks.

SyngCo 2026 welcomes scientists, conservationists, and professionals from all disciplines related to aquatic biodiversity. Together, we aim to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and share the latest research and innovative approaches to safeguard these iconic marine species.
