Come and immerse yourself in the Te Kawa o Tangaroa - ocean centred learning personal development training session.

About this event

Based on the brand new educational curriculum focussed resource, that was designed and developed by the Marine Stewardship Council and is delivered in partnership with the National Aquarium of New Zealand.

The session will be led by the Aquarium's education team and MSC's educator and learning designer.

During this free to attend one-day training workshop, you will learn about what this engaging programme has to offer you and your students, through presentations, tours, hands-on activities and lab-based experiments.

Topics covered include ocean sustainability, sustainable fisheries, bycatch, plastic ocean pollution, food webs, fish biology and adaptations.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You do not need to bring your ticket to the event. Please give your name at the National Aquarium reception desk and we can check off your name from our list. We advise you also carry photo ID.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

This is an invitation only event so the named person on the event registration must be present, unless a transfer of name has been organised with the National Aquarium team.

Can I bring someone with me?

No, the event is for invited guests only.

Do you have a cloakroom?

The National Aquarium will have coat racks (unstaffed) available for use. It is advised you do not bring large items that would need storage with you.

Do I need to wear a mask?

No. We will be ensuring that our event attendees use the NZ COVID Tracer app or physical tracing measures and encourage good hygiene measures to be followed. What parking is available?

There is ample parking available in the National Aquarium car park in addition to roadside in front of the Aquarium building. There are a number of accessible/mobility parks available.

Is the building accessible?

Yes, it is a predominantly flat site and there is a ramp down into the exhibit space where the event is being held, in addition to accessible bathrooms on the ground level.

There are a number of taxi services available in Hawkes Bay, including Hawkes Bay Combined Taxis - 0800 627 437 or www.hawkesbaytaxis.nz/services.

What can I bring into the event?

We will provide a coat rack for your coats and bags just outside the auditorium. Please give yourself enough time to drop off and collect and note that we cannot take responsibility for your possessions.

There are a range of hotels and motels along Marine Parade in Napier that can suit any price range and are within walking distance to NANZ.
