Description

Undoubtedly, one of the most important cities in Andalusia, constant reference in the history, art, politics, culture or economy of our community. It is the most extensive municipality of the province, occupied for the most part by a plains of very fertile lands, in which olive groves and cereals predominate, surrounded by the Sierras de El Torcal and the Central Limestone Arc and in which it stands majestically The Peña de los Enamorados, the reason for numerous myths and legends.

Its privileged geographical location, in the historic communications center between Alta and Baja Andalucia, has provided it with a great cultural and economic wealth, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological remains of various eras found in its territory. The Dolmens of El Romeral, Viera and Menga, the Efebo of Antequera and many other pieces found in the City Museum are a good example of this.
