No, the course is suitable for both beginners and intermediate writers. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go.

What kind of writing will we do?

We’ll explore all types of fiction, from short stories and flash fiction to novel writing and screenwriting. The course is designed to help you find your voice, develop characters, and strengthen your storytelling — whatever genre you’re drawn to.

Will I have to share my work?

Sharing is encouraged but never compulsory. You’ll always be in control of what you read aloud, and feedback is given in a supportive and constructive way. There is also the opportunity to have one-on-one mentoring with Natali Simmonds directly.

What do I need to bring?

Just a notebook and pen (or laptop/tablet if you prefer). Handouts and prompts will be provided.

How big is the group?

The workshop is capped at 12 participants to ensure everyone gets attention, feedback, and time to contribute. The course is suitable for students aged 18+ and we ask that dogs and children do not attend.
