Lou Sargent
I have been a teacher for the last 18 years. It is a vocation I love, but for many years my personal passion has been silversmithing.
I started silversmithing in my twenties but I think my love of metalwork probably goes back to watching my dad building and soldering parts onto his motorbike.
In the last few years I have been teaching silversmithing as an optional enrichment for sixth form students. I noticed just how much they were enjoying, not only the opportunity to be creative in a calm space, but also making new friendships, and simply relaxing, away from their academic studies.
This had led me to branch out from making silver pieces for private client commissions, to start running workshops in lovely venues and home settings.
