Ocelotl empowers youth to bring their power into purpose and to enact solutions that dismantle systemic inequities. Ocelotl utilizes youth development action models and an approach focused on community-based engagement and culturally responsive pedagogy, with an orientation to social justice.

We believe that young people are the experts of their own experience. We know how to share power and cooperate with youth and can teach this. Ocelotl understands that trauma-informed youth development models including meaningful work and mentorship with invested adult allies for Oakland youth encourage independence, self efficacy and power into purpose.
