Margaret Feeney
I’m a practicing artist and experienced art tutor. I’m currently making a sculpture for NZ Sculpture OnShore 2025 and preparing for a Wellington exhibition at Rice Pudding Gallery for November.
I use a wide range of mediums in my work and in my teaching practice. I work to think about the hijacking of the natural world and the human-built world by the modern market system. The current focus is A Black Comedy in Pastels which plays with humans shifting from nature to culture, as if we are not a part of nature, but something apart.
I share ideas in exhibitions, through teaching, and with public sculpture. Recent work includes wild animal habitats for Sculpture On The Gulf 2022, Waiheke Island, and Sculpture In The Gardens 2021, Auckland Botanic Gardens. I’ve been in 20 solo shows and over 40 group shows. And run over 20 Collective Invention workshops with outsider communities, to explore ideas and make ephemeral public installations. I currently run online studios- they are so much fun!
