Rights x Tech
Rights x Tech is a Bold Impact program focused on explicitly exploring the intersections of technology, race and human rights.
Rights x Tech is a program that facilitates a network and a forum for innovative movement leaders, technologists from top technology companies, finance and policy experts to explicitly interrogate the most pressing human rights issues the ecosystem is reckoning with today. It was designed as a clearing for relational bridge building between individuals within technology companies and top movement/policy strategists to co-pollinate both ecosystems with interventions in technology policies, digital rights, strategy, platform development that are inclusive of human rights and lessen harms for marginalized and vulnerable communities.
The program experienced a pandemic surge and participation and engagement jumped to more than 10,000 movement technologists, technology policy experts, platform product engineers, designers, philanthropy leaders and technology platform executives.
Each RxT facilitates explicit Call To Action that are created and curated by invited RxT experts for forum participants to have a longer engagement arc beyond the single event. These are shared during the live RxT and later redeployed directly to participants over email and social media. We are able to track and follow people continuing to connect on this bridge point. Restructuring programming to focus on emergent issues in the technology and democracy ecosystem rather than structural challenges within technology companies has fostered deeper engagement. Our intention is to continue to follow this thread and expand beyond niche subject matter expertise to create a broader entry-point for participants and opportunities for collective action.
