Juan Miguel Castellano is a flamenco guitarist, composer and teacher from Tenerife, trained in both classical and flamenco guitar traditions.
· About the Artist
Juan Miguel Castellano González (La Laguna, Tenerife, 1987)
Flamenco guitarist, composer and teacher. His musical training began at the Municipal School of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and at the Professional Conservatoire in the same city. He later completed a Higher Degree in Flamenco Guitar at the “Rafael Orozco” Conservatoire in Córdoba, where he studied under Manolo Franco, Luis Medina, Gabriel Expósito and David Carmona, among others.
Since 2011, he has been involved in a variety of musical projects, including Retahíla, Caracoles, Souvenir Flamenco, Indimaj, Cambala and the guitar duo Temple. In 2022, he took part as a musician and featured performer in the British television series A Town Called Malice (Sky TV). He has been invited to festivals and concert series such as Festival 6Cuerdas, Campus América and FIMUCITÉ 2023, where he shared the stage with Juno Reactor and the Sinfonietta Cracovia. In 2024, he joined the dance company Flamencuría, led by dancer Obdulia Bustos. That same summer, he undertook a tour of Germany, marking the beginning of his international artistic development.
His musical style brings together flamenco, classical music, jazz and world music, combining original compositions with works by major figures of the flamenco guitar such as Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo and Gerardo Núñez. Alongside his artistic career, Juan Miguel currently teaches flamenco guitar both online and in person. Since 2024, he has also represented Sulayr Music in Tenerife, promoting and presenting the company's guitars.
