Solving Societal Challenges with Citizen Science – The Power of Funding

COESO aims to develop and sustain citizen science research in the social sciences and humanities. COESO’s mission is to enable strong growth of citizen science projects in the social sciences and humanities and to support participatory research through a service-first approach. The COESO project is an endeavour to bridge collaboration between the European social sciences and humanities community, the citizen science community, as well as the open scholarly communication community.

A workshop for international research funders exploring how research agendas support citizen science.

Join the COESO International Funders Workshop! The <a href="https://coeso.hypotheses.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">COESO project</a> is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to develop and sustain citizen science research in the social sciences and humanities (SSH). We are bringing together an international circle of research funders to discuss how their agendas address the need for more SSH citizen science research. The event will be opened by Michael Arentoft (Head of Unit, European Commission, Dept. of Research and Innovation), and will include opportunities to hear from funders working in a variety of areas in the broad funding landscape. There will also be opportunities for you to connect with other funders to share perspectives and to learn more about the COESO project. This work builds on the COESO national funding workshops in summer 2022, where we collectively explored options to increase the number and diversity of citizen science projects in SSH. Key outputs from these workshops shaped our Policy Brief. Come share your input and ideas at this event on the 25th January 2023 from 11.00 to 13.00 Central European Time. The COESO Project also provides to funders and to all the citizen science community its policy brief, where shares information about the funding situation and needs regarding Citizen Science (specifically Participatory Research) in the Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines.This policy brief can be downloaded <a href="https://coeso.hypotheses.org/funding-advocacy" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>.
