For the #17 edition of our FridayTalks we will host Gemma Galdon Clavell will be joining us to discuss “Data Ethics on the ground.”
How important are ethics when managing data? This talk will open your eyes to the impact data has on our society and the importance of maintaining ethical best practices. Data plays a large role in how governments organize social benefits, how companies chose job candidates, and how organizations - both private and public - conduct their businesses. Methodologies like algorithmic audits help us to identify bias, data protection risks, fairness, power issues, and organizational constraints that shape the world's technological decisions. Join us for an evening of discussing why these ethical practices are crucial. By bringing more diversity and ethical conduct to the data science field, our future technology will reflect back this diversity and more successfully find inclusive and fair solutions for our world.
