Via Ferrata Skills Day – Albir
We’re excited to offer a Via Ferrata Skills Day at Albir, the perfect training ground for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills. This day is focused on practical skill-building, giving you the confidence to tackle exposed sections, practice rappelling, and learn self-rescue techniques in a safe, controlled environment.
Led by Mark Eddy, experienced Mountain Leader, Climbing Instructor, and author of Mountain Adventures, Costa Blanca, you’ll benefit from expert guidance in a supportive and hands-on setting.
What You’ll Learn:
- Gear & Safety: Proper use of harness, helmet, lanyard, and equipment checks
- Basic Movement: Footwork, three points of contact, clipping in/out safely
- Exposed Sections: Traversing ladders, bridges, and ledges
- Resting & Recovery: Safe spots, pacing, conserving energy
- Self-Rescue & Emergency: Self-lowering, unclipping safely, basic rescue techniques
- Rappelling/Abseiling: Setting up anchors, controlled descent
- Route Awareness: Understanding grades (K1–K6+), assessing difficulty, knowing escape options
Optional Next-Day Adventure – Full Via Ferrata:
After completing this Skills Day, you’ll have the exciting option to join our Via Ferrata group/team on a full via ferrata the next day. This gives you the opportunity to apply your new skills on a real route, gain experience in a supportive group, and enjoy a full via ferrata adventure with like-minded participants. Join here

Via ferrata is more than just an exciting activity—it develops skills that carry over to climbing, canyoning, and scrambling, all key adventures within our group. Completing this Skills Day opens the door to future via ferrata trips and gives you the chance to join our Via Ferrata team, taking part in events, trips, and adventures with other members.
This event also marks the start of our expanded Skills Day program, which will feature sessions in canyoning, climbing, and progression days for both via ferrata and canyoning enthusiasts.
