El Student Service Design Challenge iniciado por Philips y Service Design College es una competición internacional para estudiantes que les brinda una oportunidad de aprendizaje práctico con la misión de involucrar a los jóvenes talentos y buscar su participación activa para resolver y dar seguimiento a innovaciones sociales y responsables, necesarias en nuestra actual era de transformación, definiendo y diseñando soluciones de servicio que abordan un problema específico pero universal.

El desafío de este año consiste en 'diseñar al revés para avanzar', alentando a la próxima generación de diseñadores a usar su poder creativo para diseñar un servicio atractivo para ‘cerrar el ciclo’ que aporte valor a las personas, el planeta y el público, involucrando a usuarios cotidianos y facilitando la introducción del diseño circular en los procesos industriales existentes.

Después de 5 meses de trabajo, desde las propuestas iniciales hasta las soluciones finales, los ganadores del Student Service Design Challenge 2021 serán anunciados en esta ceremonia online. De entre más de 70 equipos de estudiantes de 22 universidades de todo el mundo, un jurado de renombre revelará los conceptos premiados en primer, segundo y tercer lugar.

La ceremonia de convocatoria de los ganadores tendrá lugar en directo desde Roca Barcelona Gallery el próximo 11 de junio.

Inge Keizer, fundadora de Service Design College e Isabel Roig, directora ejecutiva de Barcelona centre de Disseny, darán la bienvenida a la audiencia global.

17:10 - 17:30 CET

La ceremonia se abrirá con una conferencia magistral de Chris Grantham, Director Ejecutivo de Economía Circular de IDEO, quien compartirá su visión sobre el poder del diseño centrado en el ser humano en el desarrollo de la economía circular.

17:30 - 18:30 CET

Después de la conferencia magistral, los miembros internacionales del jurado se unirán a Chris para discutir cómo diseñar para la sostenibilidad y la circularidad debería ser un deber de todo diseñador. Robert Metzke, Director de Innovación y Estrategia de Personal y Responsable de Sostenibilidad de Philips, anunciará los ganadores de la edición de este año y organizará un debate con los estudiantes ganadores.

Este evento está organizado por Service Design College y Philips, junto con IBM, Barcelona centre de Disseny y la Fundación Ellen MacArthur, como parte de la Barcelona Design Week.

The Student Service Design Challenge initiated by Philips and the Service Design College is an international student competition providing students with a hands-on learning opportunity with the mission to involve young talent and seek their active participation to solve and follow through with the social and responsible innovations needed in our current transformational era

by defining and designing service solutions that address a specific but universal problem.

This year's challenge was all about 'designing backwards to move forward', encouraging the next generation of designers to use their creative power to design an engaging closing-the-loop service that contributes value to people, the planet, and the public and that engage everyday users and facilitate the introduction of circular design into existing industrial processes.

After 5 months of working from proposals to final service solutions, the winners of the Student Service Design Challenge 2021 will be announced. Out of over 70 global student teams from 22 universities worldwide, a renowned jury will reveal the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awarded concepts.

The winners announcement ceremony will take place live from Roca Gallery in Barcelona. Join the online ceremony, live on June 11.

The ceremony will open with a keynote from Chris Grantham, Executive Director of Circular Economy at IDEO, sharing his vision on the power of human-centred design in designing for the circular economy.

17:30 - 18:30 CET

After the keynote, Chris will be joined by the international members of the jury to discuss how designing for sustainability and circularity should be every designer's duty. Robert Metzke, Chief of Staff Innovation & Strategy and Head of Sustainability at Philips, will announce the winners of this year's edition and will host a discussion with the winning students.

This event is organised by the Service Design College and Philips, together with IBM, Barcelona Design Centre and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, as part of the Barcelona Design Week.
