Explore the city and soak up all its details and curiosities as you walk with our official guides in English during the Essential Free Tour Lisbon.We will meet at Restauradores Square, a place that connects Liberdade Avenue with the city's Baixa and is steeped in history, as it commemorates the liberation of Portugal from Spanish rule in the 17th century.The city of the seven hills is not called that in vain, as it is full of elevated places that offer unbeatable views of the surrounding area. We will visit one of the most iconic viewpoints of the Portuguese capital, the São Pedro de Alcântara Viewpoint - you may remember seeing a picture of Lisbon taken from this point!From here we will head towards Rossio Square, one of the liveliest corners of Lisbon, but not before passing by the D. Maria II National Theatre and making a short stop at the historic and mysterious São Domingos Church, survivor of several catastrophes and whose interior surprises those who dare to visit it.Did you know that Portugal is famous for its canned fish? On our walk we will find one of the most amusing and curious shops dedicated to the sale of these products. After this, we will stop in front of another metal structure, but much larger, the Santa Justa Elevator, which has become one of the must-see icons of the Portuguese capital.The Carmo Convent is the best example of the before and after of the city since the Great Earthquake of 1755. Its ruins still show us today the cruelty of this natural phenomenon and its conservation and rehabilitation as a museum is the living image of how the people of Lisbon knew how to rise up in the face of adversity.We will stroll through the cosy Baixa-Chiado district until we reach the Lisbon Cathedral, the oldest church in the city, and then we will stop next to the Rua Augusta Arch, whose details and beauty are a source of admiration for all who visit it.The Comercio Square awaits us to finish our tour of the Portuguese capital. Considered the meeting point for all the city's residents, here we will find the old dock known as Cais das Colunas, where we can finish our visit by taking a photo next to the banks of the Tagus River.
