How GenAI is reshaping Software Engineering?

GenAI Community

One year of GenAI in engineering: real stories, hard lessons, new workflows, and what actually changed when AI moved from hype to production

AIhub by Unicorn Factory Lisboa

About the event
Join us for practical, opinionated stories from people working with AI inside real organizations - the decisions, experiments, failures, trade-offs and lessons that come with moving from prototypes to production. We’ll explore how workflows and team structures are evolving, where AI is creating real leverage, where new bottlenecks are appearing, and what teams would do differently if they were starting today. This is not a GenAI 101 event. It’s designed for founders, CTOs, engineering managers, senior engineers and product leaders already building with AI, leading teams using it, or figuring out how it fits into their organization.
Agenda
Talk #1: Designing AI systems that stick: The Retention Flywheel & the retention.md specA practical look at how teams can move beyond passive prompt boxes and design AI products around trust, context and proactive utility. Speaker: Madalena Costa Founder & AI Product Experience Strategist at Human × IntelligentMadalena is a product strategist, speaker and host of Human × Intelligent, exploring how we design AI systems grounded in human behavior. Talk #2: Persistent memory for stateful autonomous agentic systems: Building agents that are deterministic, grounded and accountableA practical look at how to move beyond AI agents that forget context and build stateful systems with dependable long-term memory, grounded business knowledge and predictable, traceable results.Speaker: Jeff AndradeStaff Engineer / Lead Developer at The Retail Performance Company GmbHJeff is a Staff Engineer, Lead Software Developer and AI Solutions Architect specializing in designing autonomous agent frameworks, knowledge graphs and scalable enterprise intelligence systems.
A new GenAI community in Lisbon 🇵🇹
This event marks the first gathering of the GenAI Community Lisbon chapter.GenAI Community is focused on the practical application of Generative AI, bringing together people who are building, experimenting with and applying AI across engineering, product, design and business. The community is already active in Valencia, and Lisbon is one of the new chapters growing across Europe. Our goal is simple: build a strong local community while connecting practitioners across cities. So come for the talks, meet the people building with AI in Lisbon, share what you’re learning, and stay for what comes next.
The networking 🍻
We’ll finish the evening with food, drinks and networking at AIhub by Unicorn Factory Lisboa.Come with questions, ready to share experiments, your successes and your “we tried this and it absolutely didn’t work” stories. This is a space for the people building GenAI today.Seats are free, but registration is required.See you in Lisbon! 🚀 Learn more and join us at genaicommunity.eu

Agenda

Check-In

Welcome and Presentation of GenAI Community Lisbon

Why do 90% of GenAI products spike on launch day only to lose their users weeks later? Enterprise research shows that over 95% of GenAI initiatives fail to deliver sustained business value, largely because teams build passive prompt boxes that lack long-term habit formation. The solution appears when we go from static AI features to habit forming workflows using the AI Retention Flywheel.
In this session, we’ll break down how to design loops of trust, context capture and proactive utility that turn one off interactions into multiplying product value. We will operationalize this framework through the retention.md spec. A lightweight markdown blueprint that teams can commit directly to their repositories to align on system boundaries, human agency and context memory.

Designing AI systems that stick: The retention flywheel & the retention.md

Most AI agents today suffer from a severe limitation: they forget context between sessions, lose track of business history, and make decisions based on guesswork rather than facts. This makes it difficult to trust AI with critical workflows, customer data, or consistent execution.

In this practical session, discover how to transition from brittle AI prototypes to production-ready agentic systems. We will explore how to give AI dependable, long-term memory so your agents can maintain accurate context over time, stay strictly grounded in your business data, and deliver accountable, predictable and traceable results you can actually trust in the real world.
