Well, “Jackies” is derived from the phrase “Jack Your Body.” This phrase became popular with the song “Jack Your Body” by Steve “Silk” Hurley, released in 1986. This track is one of the first hits in house music and was pioneering in introducing the word “Jack” as a fundamental term in the language of this genre. In house music, “Jack” refers to the characteristic dance style and the physical sensation of moving to the rhythm of the music. The song was a hit in Chicago’s nightclubs and soon after in Europe, where it reached number one in the UK in 1987.
