Fab Lab Barcelonaes un laboratorio de fabricación digital líder en de la red mundial de talleres de innovación (Fab Labs). Fundado en 2007 por el Instituto de Arquitectura Avanzada de Cataluña (IAAC), Fab Lab Barcelona es un espacio que ofrece acceso a una gran variedad de herramientas de fabricación digital, como impresoras 3D, cortadoras láser, fresadoras CNC, entre otros equipos de alta tecnología.El objetivo principal del Fab Lab Barcelona es promover la innovación, la creatividad y la colaboración en el ámbito de la fabricación digital y la tecnología, así como fomentar la participación ciudadana en el proceso de creación y producción de objetos y productos. Además, ofreceMásters, Posgrados y cursos de formación en diseño y fabricación digital, una plataforma académica distribuida de educación, y colaboraciones diversas con diferentes proyectos de investigación y desarrollo tecnológico.En la actualidad, Fab Lab Barcelona desarrolla proyectos de investigación a diferentes escalas, desde dispositivos inteligentes para la recolección de datos por los individuos (Ciudadano inteligente) a los nuevos modelos productivos para las ciudades (FabCity). Los Fab Labs exploran la relación entre el mundo digital y físico, comenzó como un proyecto de extensión delCentro de Bits y Átomos del MITy se ha convertido en una red mundial de personas que trabajan en la popularización de un nuevo modo de producción que afectará a todos los niveles de nuestra vida: desde el mundo profesional de la producción de diseño, arquitectura o industrial, a la esfera doméstica, con la introducción de la fabricación personal en nuestra vida cotidiana.

Distributed Design Conference & Workshops

This September, the Distributed Design Platform and its members will host a conference-themed Open Design at the Vienna Design Week. Join us by signing up for the main event and don't miss out on registering for the special workshops!

This September, the Distributed Design Platform and its members will host a conference-themed Open Design at the <a href="https://www.viennadesignweek.at/en/" title="https://www.viennadesignweek.at/en/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Vienna Design Week</a>. We invite you to a day full of conversations and workshops that challenge the current design and production paradigms. Together, we will explore themes such as open source, collaborative practice, grassroots and communal approaches, regenerative design, and how creative activism can be a powerful tool to disrupt the status quo. We have exciting speakers from around the globe, talks hosted by Platform members, and more than ten workshops hosted by community members. Participation in the conference and workshops is 100% free! As part of this collaboration with the Vienna Design Week, we will also host a collaboratively developed exhibition space at the Festival Headquarters at the <a href="https://villageimdritten.at/" title="https://villageimdritten.at/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Village im Dritten</a>. The Vienna Design Week is a nomadic festival that utilizes spaces designated for deconstruction and teardown. On this special occasion, we will have the opportunity to use the spaces of Village im Dritten before new tenants occupy them. Exciting! We can’t wait to see you in person!

A panel discussion where experts delve into what it truly means to be "open" and how to apply theory to practice. Our panelists will share best practices for initiating and maintaining open projects, illustrated through real-life case studies. We will also explore some failures and the valuable lessons they offer. We will delve into: What are the benefits of incorporating diverse domains into open practices? What are the possible drawbacks? How can we ensure these practices have a long-term impact?

Panel: We are in need of a society that is regenerative by design. A society that promotes sustainability, resilience and well-being within ecological and social boundaries. We would turn the pursuit of constant economic growth upside down and work towards a world where we respect our natural resources. Therefore we don’t only need to think, talk and act in different ways, we also need to design new systems. If we believe everything in this world was once designed you would say that we are also able to re- or un-design these systems…So what are we waiting for?
