Through a captivating narrative, viewers are immersed in the rich history of tsunami resilience on the Pacific West Coast, highlighting the invaluable insights gained from combining Indigenous Knowledge with scientific data. Supported by Ocean Networks Canada (ONC), the film delves into the Indigenous perspective of past 'great saltwater floods' on northwest Vancouver Island, offering a tapestry of stories against the stunning backdrop of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. "Tsunami, 11th Relative" serves as a prime example of how collaboration between Indigenous knowledge and science can better prepare communities for future challenges.</li></ul> <ul><li>“Tsunami” the singalong</li></ul>“Tsunami” is a catchy animated singalong produced by <a href="https://goatknight.com/" title="https://goatknight.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Goat Knight</a> with easy to follow instructions on how to survive a Tsunami. The purpose is to create awareness among children (and their parents), living in or visiting Tsunami risk zones.The animation begins with friendly and colorful characters singing on the beach when suddenly, the earth shakes and the water begins to retrieve. If the water retrieves, it means that a wave is coming. Throughout the song our little characters find themselves in dangerous tsunami scenarios. Those who take the correct steps, survive. Those who don’t, drown, get squished, or are taken away by the wave. In the last 9.000 years, the Iberian Peninsula has experienced between 9 and 14 tsunamis. The last one, in 1755, known as the Great Lisbon Earthquake, changed the history of Europe. It also gave birth to modern Earth Sciences. The Mediterranean also has a history of large tsunamis. What will happen when the next tsunami strikes?Other places, like Hawaii or the Pacific Northwest, live with similar threats. If we share the risks, why not share the solutions?Ready for the Tsunami? is a one-hour science and technology documentary that shows what causes these large earthquakes and tsunamis in Southwest Europe, uncovers new historical evidence revealing their frequency, and explores world innovations that can keep us safe. We set up the risks with science and history, with facts, and offer solutions with inventive new technologies.
