Join us for a deep dive into how the well-being and health of urban residents can benefit from contact with nature in their everyday life!

How does nature shape health in one of the world’s most densely populated tropical cities? In Singapore, where rapid urbanisation challenges daily contact with the natural world, integrating green into the grey is not just aesthetic—it’s essential. Regular exposure to urban nature has been linked to better physical and mental health, stronger social bonds, and improved quality of life. But without intentional planning, we risk an “extinction of experience”—a growing disconnect from nature.

This session explores how Singapore is tackling that challenge head-on. From rooftop farms to therapeutic gardens, we’ll hear how nature-based interventions are being designed and adapted to support well-being across diverse communities.

Co-organised by Dr. Angelia Sia (National Parks Board), Dr. Rachel Oh (UFZ/iDiv), and Ms. Jocelin Lam (NUS), the session features local examples of urban greening that make space for both biodiversity and belonging.
