Join the IE School of Humanities and the IE Arts &amp; Business Club for this panel, which brings together leading voices from major cultural institutions and the international art market to explore how museums, market dynamics, and cultural leadership intersect in shaping today’s art world. The conversation will examine curatorial practice, the role of the auction house, institutional strategy, and the diverse professional pathways that define the global art ecosystem today. The discussion will also reflect on the role and visibility of women in the arts in the context of Women’s Month. Her research explores the intersection of entrepreneurial families and arts philanthropy. She is a member of the jury of the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards (Arts Category) and of the IE Foundation Prizes in the Humanities. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ethosfera Foundation, is an Honorary Member of the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation in Madrid, and is a member of AWITA – Women in the Arts.Beatriz Ordovás is an International Director at Christie’s and a specialist in the Post-War and Contemporary Art department. Before relocating to Spain, she spent thirteen years in London, where in 2014 she was appointed Head of the Private Sales department for Europe, the Middle East, Russia and India (EMERI). She currently leads the business in Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Latin America, while also providing key support to the London office and other European locations. Her role requires a global presence, keeping her in constant travel to strengthen relationships and develop new opportunities in the art market. In addition, with the rise of NFTs, Beatriz played a key role in shaping the company’s development and strategy in this sector from Europe. Four years ago, she became an auctioneer and has since established herself as a leading figure in charity auctions in the region, collaborating with a wide range of causes.Clara Marcellán is curator of Modern Painting at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, where she works since 2009, with a focus on its European and American Nineteenth-Century paintings. She has coordinated several exhibitions, including Berthe Morisot (2011) or American Impressionism (2014), and has been curatorial assistant of The Impressionists and Photography (2019), Georgia O’Keeffe (2021) and Lucian Freud. New Perspectives (2023), among others. Clara organized the exhibition Artists’ Letters from the Anne Marie Springer collection in 2022 and she is the curator of Hammershøi. The Eye that Listens, currently on display at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza.
