THE BETTER TEAMWORK WORKSHOP

You can’t control the people you work with.

You can’t make someone listen better, contribute more, stop interrupting, communicate clearly, or suddenly become easier to work with.

But you can change what you do.

And sometimes, a small change in how you communicate, listen, react, or respond can make a surprising difference to how the whole team works.

Teamwork isn't just a key component of working in theatre; it's a key component of working almost anywhere.

The Better Teamwork Workshop is a practical, participative workshop exploring the behaviours that help people work better together.

Rather than trying to “fix” other people, we’ll look at what you can do differently when teamwork becomes difficult.

What will we work on?

Through practical exercises, discussion, roleplay and simulations, we’ll explore:

• How your own behaviour affects the people around you
• Recognising some of your natural teamwork habits
• Listening to understand rather than simply waiting to speak
• Responding rather than reacting when things become difficult
• Making it easier for quieter people to contribute
• Giving ideas the space to develop before rejecting them
• Building greater trust and cooperation

The aim isn’t to give you a collection of complicated teamwork theories.

It’s to give you new things to try.

Small techniques. Different responses. New habits.

Things you can experiment with the next time a meeting becomes difficult, a colleague frustrates you, or a team simply isn’t working as well as it could.

How will the workshop work?

This is a hands-on workshop.

You won’t spend the morning sitting through a presentation about teamwork.

Instead, we’ll use exercises, role-play, simulations, and techniques drawn from theatre and team training to explore what actually happens between people.

You’ll have the opportunity to try different approaches, see how other people respond, and discover which techniques work for you.

The emphasis is on learning by doing in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Who is it for?

This workshop is for anyone who works with other people.

That might include:

• Professionals working as part of a team
• Managers and team leaders
• Freelancers collaborating on projects
• Teachers and trainers
• Anyone who sometimes thinks, “Working together really shouldn’t be this difficult!”

You do not need to attend with your team.

In fact, the workshop's central idea is that you can improve how you work with others, even when they aren’t in the room.

What will I take away?

By the end of the workshop, you should have:

• A better understanding of how your own behaviour affects a team
• Practical strategies for communicating with different personalities
• Techniques for listening and responding more effectively
• More options for dealing with disagreement or difficult interactions
• Ways of encouraging greater participation and cooperation
• A collection of simple behaviours you can immediately experiment with at work

Most importantly, we hope you’ll leave with a different question.

Instead of:

“Why don’t they change?”

you may start asking:

“What could I try differently?”

And that can be a surprisingly powerful place to start.

Your workshop leader

Faye Morrison is an experienced professional actor, director and workshop facilitator who works in theatre, communication, teamwork and performance skills.

Drawing on techniques used by theatre professional, she will help you understand not just what to change about your teamworking skills, but how to apply those changes yourself..

Come in comfortable clothes, bring a bottle of water... and be prepared to discover just how many teamwork tricks you can learn.
