Welcome to Freshwalks and for our latest Women in Property collaboration event, we're heading to Edale in the Hope Valley to hopefully enjoy the sun setting across the Peak District. The hike has been planned to start late afternoon, extending into early evening meaning you can still squeeze in the majority of a working day before joining us.

Route Description

Edale is a small village at the start/end of the UK’s first and most famous long distance walking path - the Pennine Way. Our route heads through the village before we begin the initial stiff ascent of Kinder Scout. We zig-zag upwards via The Nab before we start to head east along the southern edges of the plateau. We will pass the top of Grindsbrook Clough - a potential picnic spot for us - before reaching the highest point of the walk at Grindslow Knoll which offers fabulous panoramic views of the Vale of Edale. From this point, we begin our descent back to our starting point, dropping rapidly into the valley below. A classic circular route. Enjoy.

Public transport: Please take the 15:48 train from Manchester Piccadilly due to arrive in Edale at 16:32. There are plenty of late return trains so need to worry about being stranded.

Public toilets: There are facilities at Edale Village Hall car park (start of the walk)

Picnic stop: Subject to weather, we plan to stop somewhere appropriate on Kinder Scout for an extended evening picnic stop approx 18:30-19:00 (for approx 15-20 minutes) so please bring along something suitable.

Dogs: Welcome but ought to be kept on leads for the duration of the hike. Please note that this route isn't suitable for every dog and if you aren't familiar with the terrain yourself then it might be wise to leave your canine companion at home this time.

Meeting location: Please gather in Edale Village Hall Car Park (Edale, Hope Valley, Derbyshire S33 7ZL) from 16:30. Ample parking is available. The walk will start at 16:45.

We should return to Edale between 20:00 and 20:30 subject to group size and weather. We'll take things leisurely if it's a fine evening and enjoy the views. Please note the actual sunset time is approx 21:00 and we'll be back in Edale by this time.

More detailed information will be supplied about a week before the walk but you will need to wear walking boots on this kind of terrain and bring some drinking water with you.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

An event pack will be sent out at least 72 hours before the walk. This should answer most things but feel free to email michael@freshwalks.co.uk with any questions you may have. If you've not received the pack by this time, check your email junk or spam and then contact us. Receiving this pack is essential as it includes important disclaimers and health and safety information.
