About the workshop:

The workshop is aimed at people from all disciplines interested in expanding their partnering experience and refining their ability for connection and listening.

We invite the participants to investigate four main aspects we consider essential in our practice as artists: sensitivity, control, availability, and creative adaptation. The workshop will address: movement efficiency, accuracy in reading the quality of motion of our partner and finding balance between the intentions and outcomes of our shared movement exploration. We will be offering a wide range of tools helping to deepen the understanding of main principles used in partnering work such as: sharing and transferring weight, generating and utilising momentum, dealing with changes of direction, speed and levels, economising force and differentiating it to power, cultivating trust and confidence in shared and balanced roles.

We are keen to share tools that allow participants to investigate their original movement and challenge their practice as a mover beyond technical constraints. We are interested in the quality of the relationships we cultivate with ourselves and others, forming a sensitive and responsive body that can unleash our imagination and support our performance state.

A bit more about Clémentine Télesfort & Lisard Tranis:

Clémentine Télesfort (France) and Lisard Tranis (Catalonia) are two collaborating dance artists based in Barcelona. They have been co-creating artistically since 2019 in research and scenic creation focusing on movement and body expression as a communication tool. Their meeting point lies in the interest of investigating bodily states that lead to the embodiment of images, characters and stories. The common imagination they build starts from the curiosity to explore attention as a dramaturgical instrument, an ode to presence, which leads them to create works where the everyday gives rise to the poetics of the subconscious.

Clémentine and Lisard are performers and creators who have worked together since 2017 in different companies such as Guy Nader & Maria Campos and Lali Ayguadé among others. Over the years, they cultivated a common language that led them to start their own artistic path as collaborating choreographers.

Both were part of the VERVE postgraduate company (2015/2016) at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds where they both received the 'Outstanding achievement Award' for their year. Before that, Lisard trained at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and Clementine at TrinityLaban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Since then, each has continued to work with international choreographers as performers, as well as collaborating with circus artists, videographers, musicians and photographers on collaborative projects and commissions.

Their first joint creation, Scotoma (2021), was presented at numerous national and international festivals. And in 2023, they created their first full-length work for theaters, La Mecànica de l'Infortuni. They are regularly invited to teach internationally, at festivals or as guest artists at institutions and in professional trainings. It is through the teaching of their partnering workshop, The Attentive Act, that they investigate and deepen their own physical practice, while continuously expanding their understanding and curiosity for movement.

El workshop está dirigido a personas de todas las disciplinas interesadas en ampliar su experiencia de partnering y perfeccionar su habilidad en conectarse y escuchar al otro.

Invitamos a los participantes a investigar cuatro aspectos principales de nuestra práctica como artistas: sensibilidad, control, disponibilidad y adaptación creativa. El workshop abordará la eficiencia del movimiento, la calidad de lectura del movimiento del otro y la búsqueda del equilibrio entre las intenciones y los desenlaces de nuestra exploración compartida. Ofreceremos varias herramientas que ayudarán a profundizar la comprensión de los principios fundamentales utilizados en el trabajo de pareja, tales como: compartir y transferir peso, generar y utilizar el momentum, lidiar con cambios de dirección, velocidad y niveles, economizar la fuerza y diferenciarla de la potencia, cultivar la confianza y la seguridad en roles compartidos y equilibrados.

Deseamos compartir herramientas que permitan a los participantes investigar su propio movimiento original y desafiar su práctica como artistas más allá de limitaciones técnicas. Nos interesa la calidad de las relaciones que cultivamos con nosotros mismos y con los demás, formando un cuerpo sensible y receptivo que puede dar rienda suelta a nuestra imaginación y apoyar nuestro estado performativo.
