World Design Weeks presents its Impact Report “Better by Design”

World Design Weeks is a network for design weeks and festivals around the globe .The network consists of more than 40 design festivals around the world. It connects growth metropolises’ creative urban festivals and their partners, such as academies and companies representing the design industry. The objective is to promote collaboration in the design field, to support product development, and to develop the economy of creative fields.As World Design Weeks, we unite the planet’s design communities. We share knowledge, resources and best practice, fostering the exchange of products and ideas, sustainable development, and the growth of individual design events.

WDW is pleased to present its Impact Report “Better by Design”. How design weeks make their places better, the world over.

WDW is happy to present its Impact Report “Better by Design” developed by Images&Co in partnership with Design Manchester and Gdynia Design Days, compiling information and detailed survey responses from 28 WDW member organizations. The final report of the first phase of the project contains (a) perspectives from the workshop interwoven with analysis of the survey outcomes to provide a snapshot of how member organizations across the network are structured and funded, their varied objectives and programs, who they perceive as their most important stakeholders and what benefits they consider they are bringing to their places, and (b) case studies.The first section of the report shows legal form, funding and longevity of member organizations, scale of member festivals, both in duration, number (and types) of events and venues, audience size, aims and objectives, the length of planning and how this relates to budgets and funding types, ranking of stakeholders in terms of importance, practice and methods of monitoring and evaluation (data collection) and a detailed look at perceived benefits delivered to local areas – both generalized across the network and highlighting perspectives reported by individual member organizations. The case studies provide detailed examples of placemaking, audience research, community engagement, evaluation methods and economic analysis.This presentation is adressed to WDW members and non-members.
